Abstract Ground motion selection is one of the most important phases in derivation fragility curves through non-linear dynamic analyses. In this context, an easy-to-use software, namely S&M—Select & Match, has been adopted for and spectral matching recorded ground motions approaching a target response spectrum broad period range. paper, after brief description key features S&M tool, two sets 125 accelerograms, separately stiff (i.e. site classes A B according to Italian code) soft soil C D) conditions, have selected on basis elastic design spectra seismic code defined different return periods. The analysed used analysis case study representative common RC building type designed only gravity loads. Results order check capability considered signals adequately cover all damage levels generally risk analyses, as well effects due criteria permitted by proposed tool.
